Remote Sensing

Overview

Luminous ETS has a team of highly qualified remote sensing professionals with experiences in different domains. The group has developed several processes and algorithms to semi-automate the process of image classification. Various tools have been used to undertake stringent quality checks resulting in world-class quality data.

Luminous ETS offers a wide range of services using remotes sensing and GIS techniques aided with limited as well as detailed fieldwork. Different service areas include -

Telecom Sector

We have experience in creation of clutter data for telecom network planning using satellite images at various resolution ranging from 0.61m to as coarse as 250m. We also provide data in form of digital city models containing information on the height of the buildings and type of land-use\land-cover using single high-resolution images for line of sight studies and micro-cellular network planning. We have experience of mapping even counties like the US for some telecom giant companies.

Luminous ETS is also involved in creation of large-scale Land-base data-models for "Optical Fibre Cable" layout planning using very high-resolution satellite images and GPS aided field data attributes.

Agriculture

Different crops are mapped using hybrid classification techniques using NDVI slicing and spectral signatures collected during GPS aided field surveys. Crop acreage and production estimation is done to assist the exporters to plan their pricing and quantity of exports. Team members have experience in mapping the crops like paddy, basmati rice, wheat, sugarcane, and tea using different types of satellite data like LISS IV, LISS III, Radarsat, AWiFS, WiFS, MODIS and NOAA.

Forestry

We also offer services in the mapping and change detection studies of forest cover. Knowledge based classification techniques are used to carryout species level forest classification and mapping of natural resources like bamboo and rattan. NDVI, LAI and GPS aided limited field survey are used to carry out studies like carbon sequestration, carbon emission and wood stock assessment of forest clumps.

Insurance Sector

We also offer services in the field of agriculture and in property insurance. Crop health monitoring and crop stress assessment is done on regular basis using multi-temporal satellite images and different relevant information is deduced on scientific basis to assist insurance companies to pay out compensation to the insured.

The property insurance clients in the coastal countries require data in form of Surface roughness to model the vulnerability of property to natural hazards like cyclones and hurricanes and fix the premium to be charged. We offer services in this field also and create tailor made data depending upon the clients requirement.

Value Added Services

Luminous ETS has developed several in-house processes and techniques to create quality resolution merged data and create seamless satellite mosaics. It has also got the capability of creating synthetic blue band out of False Color Composite image and to create Natural Color Composite.

EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment)

The group is also involved in creating databases at different scales, using latest satellite images at various resolutions for Environmental Impact Studies.

We have recently completed prestigious project which required the preparation of database for preliminary EIA studies along with the proposed Railway Freight Corridor', encompassing areas in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, NCR, Haryana, U.P. and Bihar.
